08/04/17 – Cooperative Center FCU received information that Kmart (Sears Holding Company) experienced unauthorized access to its payment systems resulting in the possible compromise of credit and debit card information used at its “brick and mortar” stores from September 3, 2016 through April 30, 2017. Currently there is no evidence that online purchases were affected by this data breach.
Although certain card account data may have been compromised in this incident that does not mean data related to your account was taken, or that fraud has occurred on your account.
Be assured we are actively monitoring the activity on all Cooperative Center FCU accounts to protect you from fraud. You will be contacted by mail if we see any activity that requires you to take any action. Please watch for any communication from your credit union.
In addition, members are encouraged to review your monthly and/or online statements carefully. If there are any concerns do not hesitate to call us at 510-845-6428 option 5.
